GORKI, July 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has urged to call to account all those responsible for the wreck of the Bulgaria pleasure boat that claimed more than a hundred human lives.
“It is necessary to get a detailed picture of what has happened and punish all those responsible,” he said at a meeting with power-wielding ministers. “It must be done in respect of a wide range of persons, including organizers of this mess, not just in respect of the fall guys, figureheads and other come-and-go people who got involved in the case by chance.”
The Bulgaria pleasure boat, which was on a Bolgary-Kazan river voyage, sank in a storm in the Kuibyshevskoye dam lake, three kilometers away from the shore, on July 10. The ship built in Czechoslovakia in 1955 titled to the right and sank within minutes. According to latest information, there were 201 people aboard, some of them unregistered. Seventy-nine were rescued. The officially confirmed death toll is 122 people – 28 children, 72 women and 22 men.
