Former U.S. President Bill Clinton had an embarrassing moment while delivering a public speech in Montenegro. He mixed up Montenegro with Macedonia and called on the Balkan countries to “get integrated into Europe.”
Clinton touched upon the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, comparing its ethnic, political and religious problems caused by the former Yugoslavia’s collapse, to those currently faced by the Middle East. He ended his key-note speech by mistakenly taking Montenegro for Macedonia, another former Yugoslavian republic.
“And Macedonia, with its stunning breath-taking nature, will become rich. Do not blow it. Good luck and God bless you “- Clinton said.
