No drugs to be legalised in Russia – Viktor Ivanov

MOSCOW, August 29 (Itar-Tass) — No drugs will be legalised in Russia, chairman of the State Anti-Drug Committee Viktor Ivanov said.

Ivanov, who is also director of the Federal Service for Drug Control, told journalists on Monday that Russia “upholds the principle of inadmissibility of drug legalisation”.

According to the chairman of the State Anti-Drug Committee, “drugs can be only used for medical purposes, which are approved by the World Healthcare Organisation.”

“No drugs can be legalised,” he added.

Ivanov called for studying Mexico’s negative experience. In his view, the policy of legalisation did not do any good.
