Police detained in western Moscow on Tuesday a man who was caught eating an acquaintance’s liver.
Police tracked down the suspect after a trail of severed body parts including limbs and a head were found across the city.
“When the police came to arrest the suspect, he was eating a human liver with potatoes,” a district police spokeswoman said.
Investigative Committee representative Vladimir Markin identified the suspect as Nikolai Shadrin, a local resident with a history of psychological problems. The victim was 40-year-old Ilya Yegorov, also a Muscovite.
The rest of the liver was found in a refrigerator in the suspect’s apartment. He has pleaded guilty to killing and dismembering Yegorov on May 2, scattering some of his body parts throughout the city and storing others, Markin said.
A case has been opened on murder charges, punishable with up to 15 years in prison.
