Prosecution demands arrest of ex-Rosatom official over fraud

Prosecutors asked on Wednesday a Moscow court to sanction the arrest of a former deputy general director of the Rosatom nuclear power corporation suspected of embezzling some 50 million rubles ($1.7 mln).

Yevgeny Yevstratov was arraigned at the Ostankino Distict Court earlier on Wednesday to face charges on a series of large-scale fraudulent acts at Rosatom and Atomflot enterprises under his supervision.

“The court has received criminal case materials where the prosecution demands the arrest of Yevstratov,” court spokesman Alexander Pulin said.

The case is the result of a long-running investigation of corruption in Rosatom structures, which already saw 35 top managers fired and over 200 disciplined in the past year.
