Putin congratulates railway workers on professional holiday

MOSCOW, August 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has congratulated railway workers and veterans, who mark their professional holiday on Sunday, the prime minister’s press service said.

In his congratulatory address he underlined that “stable and well-coordinated operation of all sectors of the railway transport system is one of the priorities and major conditions for the dynamic development of Russia’s economy, the strengthening of its industrial potential and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects.”

“I am confident that in the future you will also successfully resolve important tasks the sector is facing,” Putin said. “These main tasks include modernization of Russian railways, introduction of new technologies and construction of new railways and of course, higher quality and competitiveness of provided services.”
