Russia’s air ticket prices to go higher by end of August

MOSCOW, August 5 (Itar-Tass) — The prices for airline tickets in Russia will grow by 300-900 roubles (around 10-30 dollars) on the average following snowballing jet fuel prices, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily wrote on Friday.

For instance, a two-way ticket per one person to Kamchatka will cost 52,000 roubles (around 1,900 dollars).

This week the demand on jet fuel at exchange auctions exceeded the supply by 13 times, experts told the newspaper. As a result, a fuel price grew by 1,500-2,000 roubles per tonne or by 5-10 percent.

The executive director of Aviaport agency, Oleg Panteleyev, forecast that the ticket price will increase by 1.5 percent. He even declined to suppose how much a fuel surcharge for charter flight passengers will grow.

Jet fuel prices practically equalled that of the 2009 crisis year. The highest jet fuel prices are registered in Russia’s Far East.
