Wildfires sweep more than 2,400 ha in Far East

KHABAROVSK, August 5 (Itar-Tass) —— The wildfire area enlarged more than thrice in the Far East over the past day.

Thirteen fires raged on a total area of 2,489 hectares in the region on Friday morning, the Far East Federal District’s Forestry Department told Itar-Tass.

The situation becomes tense again in Yakutia, where four fires are raging on 1,612 hectares of forests.

There are five outbreaks in the Khabarovsk Territory, where almost 600 hectares of forests are ablaze. Three fires are burning in the Magadan Region, and there is one in Chukotka.

According to the regional centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 373 people are mobilized to fight the blaze. Eleven aircraft are used in the operation. There is no threat to residential areas.
