Three Hurt in Chechnya by Exploding iPhone

Three people have been injured after an iPhone exploded in Grozny, a police source said on Friday.

The phone was found by police, who then took it to a repair shop in the Chechen capital.

The blast occurred as a repairman in the shop was connecting it to a charger, the source told RIA Novosti.

“As a result of the explosion, three people were injured, the phone repairman and two police officers,” he said. All three were hospitalized.

The repairman was the worst injured.

“The victim’s eyes were seriously damaged and his hands all but blown off.”

Officials believe the iPhone was fitted with explosives. An investigation is underway.
