ANKARA, August 28 (Itar-Tass) — Three Russians were injured on Sunday by a blast at the Turkish resort city of Kemer, Itar-Tass learnt from consul of the Russian diplomatic mission in Antalya Vladimir Biryukov.
“Three Russian citizens were injured by the blast. They already received adequate medical aid and are preparing for checking out from the hospital,” he said. According to the consul, the Russians received light injuries mostly by flying pebbles from the blast. Biryukov added that other injured tourists are from European countries.
The blast thundered this morning at 10.10 local time at the beach of the Viking Hotel in Kemer. According to data of the local mass media, 10 tourists were injured. A preliminary version shows that a sound grenade exploded. Holidaymakers who were close to the explosion, temporarily lost hearing.
In turn, the Association of Russian Tour Operators has no data so far on Russian tourists. “We now try to find out all information and want to receive data from tour operators whether there were Russians among the injured tourists,” the Association’s executive director Maya Lomidze told Itar-Tass.
She stressed at the same time that according to information by tour operators, “the blast injured nine people; they are mostly Europeans. Five of them in a serious state were brought to hospitals”.
Lomidze noted that “according to a preliminary version available to tour operators, the explosion thundered over a gas cylinder on the grounds of a restaurant”.
A similar incident took place in Antalya on August 26. A sound grenade ripped the air there at the city beach. There were no casualties. But some holidaymakers that swooned over the panic, received medical aid on the spot.
