Tractor driver saves dozens from fire

Authorities in Perm have located the father and son who rescued dozens of people from a fire with the help of their tractor.

Fire broke out in a residential building in the early hours this morning, just as a local tractor driver and his 13-year-old son were cleaning the road.

The building’s residents were sleeping when the flames started burning, so many of them got trapped before they realized what happened.

The tractor driver, Mikhail Starikov, immediately understood what needed to be done. All the residents were able to escape from a first-floor window with the help of Mikhail’s vehicle.

“The tractor drove next to the window and we all jumped into it,” a boy who luckily escaped the fire told the Vesti 24 news channel. “I didn’t even have enough time to get scared.”

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the pair of miraculous saviors slipped away anonymously. Later they explained that they had to get back to work. Now that they have been found, they are receiving the recognition they deserve. In total, the father and son managed to save 38 people, among them seven kids.

“I didn’t have any doubts,” said Starikov. “I knew I just had to save the children.”
