MOSCOW, September 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Two militants, one of which was earlier put on the wanted list for terrorist crimes, were destroyed in Kabardino-Balkaria, representative of the information centre of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) Nikolai Sintsov told ITAR-TASS.
On Saturday, at about 5 o’clock in the morning, officers of the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry blocked a group of militants in a private house in Shukov Street. According to the decision of the head of the Operational Headquarters for Kabardio-Balkaria, the counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced in the area of Molodezhnaya, Pushkin, Zhangireyev and Imakhov Streets at 06.00 Moscow time.
After the evacuation of residents of the near-by houses, the criminals were offered to surrender and lay down arms, however, they opened disorderly fire.
“By 10 o’clock in the morning, two militants were neutralized,” the NAC representative said. “One of the killed was preliminary identified as Yuri Argashkov, 22, a native of Nalchik.” According to the Operational Headquarters, he was on the federal wanted list, was an active member of the bandit underground and participated in a number of serious terrorist crimes, murders and attacks on law enforcers.
The counter-terrorist operation regime is still in force. The armed clash is over. Investigation is underway.
