Ukrtelecom to invest $401.5 million in development in 2011–2013

MOSCOW, Sep 2 (PRIME) — Ukrainian telecommunications company Ukrtelecom plans to direct a total of U.S. $401.5 million towards its development in 20112013, the company said in a statement Friday.

Specifically, Ukrtelecom intends to direct the bulk of the funds to the extension of its telecommunication infrastructure and the development of promising services.

Key areas of investment include expanding access to broadband Internet, increasing the capacities of local Ethernet rings, and upgrading optical baseline networks.

Ukrtelecom, controlled by Austrian investment company EPIC, is the dominant fixed-line telephony and Internet operator in Ukraine, providing services to more than 10 million subscribers, according to the companys data.
