Buryatia ready to receive over 1,000 compatriots from abroad

ULAN-UDE, August 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Buryatia is ready to receive more than 1,000 compatriots returned to Russia according to the voluntarily resettlement programme before 2013. The republic, which became a participant in the federal programme “Compatriots,” hopes that “settlers will help ease the consequences of “demographic gaps” of the early 90ies,” President Vyacheslav Nagovitsin of Buryatia said at a meeting devoted to the implementation of the programme.

Buryatia’s six municipalities – – Bauntovsky, Dzhidinsky, Yeravninsky, Selenginsky, Muisky and Tunkinsky, which are united into a microdistrict for settlers – – Pribaikalsky, intend to receive settlers. It is planned that over two years almost 260 families will come to settlements of the microdistrict. Herewith, the share of able-bodied settlers will amount to more than 60 percent, the share of children – – 30 percent and the share of pensioners – – 10 percent.

“This will make it possible to implement the principle of substituting the drop of labour forces at the expense of their attraction from adjacent countries,” Vyacheslav Nagovitsin said.

All settlers will get payments defined by the federal programme “Compatriots.” Buryatia will give them the compensation package in the form of social sphere services – – education, social servicing and healthcare.

The programme mainly counts on residents of CIS countries. Taking into account that Zabaikalye, situated far from central Russia, is not among Russian regions which enjoy popularity among settlers, the Buryatian president ordered to begin the work on attracting participants in the programme to the republic at the expense of advertisements in the Internet, in the federal media, as well as with the help of embassies and consulates of the Russian Federation.
