Civilians flee Libyan city of Brega

The battle for Brega is continuing in Libya with civilians fearing for their lives.

Brega, a key point on the frontline in Libya, has changed hands from pro to anti-Gaddafi forces.

NATO-led airstrikes have been helping the rebels who have now reportedly moved toward the centre of the city.

The civilian population has been leaving Brega in droves and are getting out of the city by all means.

Gaddafi’s forces have now cut some basic utilities.

Rebels fighters have claimed an air strike destroyed two government military vehicles in Brega, where rebels have been clashing with Mr Gaddafi’s forces for five days.

Evacuees of the rebel-held city of Misrata, in the west, have spoken of a desperate situation there, with some even saying a massacre has occurred.
