This week, the Second International Goedicke Organ Competition starts, gathering organists from all over Russia and abroad.
Alexander Goedicke (1877- 1957) was one of Russia’s leading composers last century and he left behind some notable works for the organ. Competitors will be performing his work during the second round. Organ classics such as Bach, Buxtehude, Mendelssohn and others are on the program, so it’s a not-to-be-missed opportunity for organs lovers in Moscow.
The first (Sep 15 and 16, 10 am) and second (Sept 18 and 19, 10 am) rounds will take place at the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire and admission is free. The final round (Sep 21, noon) and winners’ concert (same day, 7 pm) will be held at the Moscow International House of Music (MMDM) and tickets are from 100 to 500 roubles. One ticket will be valid for both events on that day.
